New Metric Media inks multi-title licensing deal with Netflix

Netflix has acquired Letterkenny, Shoresy and Children Ruin Everything for a number of European territories.

Toronto-based New Metric Media has struck a licensing agreement with Netflix for its comedy series Letterkenny, Shoresy (pictured) and Children Ruin Everything.

A spokesperson for New Metric confirmed the multi-territory deal to Playback Daily, adding that the prodco has bought back the international distribution rights for its flagship series Letterkenny, its spinoff Shoresy, the comedy What Would Sal Do?, and the drama Bad Blood. The series had previously been distributed by WildBrain (formerly DHX Media) through a first-look deal announced in 2014.

The Netflix agreement sees the Crave originals Letterkenny and Shoresy, and CTV comedy Children Ruin Everything, acquired by Netflix in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Luxembourg.

Additionally, Letterkenny and Shoresy have been picked up for Sweden, Finland, Norway, Iceland, Denmark and Greenland, while Children Ruin Everything is off to the U.K. The news was first reported by C21.

Netflix announced earlier this month that it had acquired Children Ruin Everything for its Canadian subscribers. The title will land on the streamer on Dec. 19, along with a raft of other English- and French-language series.

Letterkenny‘s 12-season run will end on Crave on Dec. 25, while Shoresy has been renewed for a third season on the Bell Media-owned streamer.
