Barna joins Vachon for Strategic Partners keynote

Strategic Partners has added Entertainment One Television topper Laszlo Barna to its lineup of keynote speakers for the upcoming co-production conference.

Barna joins Oscar-winning producer Christine Vachon of Killer Films at Strategic Partners to address around 200 delegates looking to network or complete financing for current and future film and TV projects.

Those projects include Winnipeg-based Buffalo Gal Pictures’ Puppets Who Kill comedy feature, which has around a third of its $4.5 million budget in hand, thanks to federal and provincial tax credits.

And Halifax-based indie producer Chronicle Pictures will be on hand to shop its $1.25 million genre pic The Corridor, now in post-production, at Strategic Partners.

Elsewhere, Montreal-based producer Couzin Films will look for partners for two English-language movie projects it has in development, the $2.5 million comedy Sweet Jane, based on an original screenplay, and the thriller Wall of Sound, also with a $2.5 million budget.

This year’s Strategic Partners conference, to run from September 16 to 19, has a focus on indie producers from the U.S. and Germany.
