Toronto-headquartered Blink49 Studios has appointed Tashi Bieler as its new SVP and head of production as the company looks to build on a “robust” growing slate of TV projects.

Bieler is based in Toronto and reports directly to COO Jeff Lynas effective immediately, said a news release issued Friday (May 12).

She will oversee all areas of physical production and post-production for both scripted and unscripted, from development through delivery, and work “closely with the company’s leadership team and other senior executives.”

In her previous role as SVP of production at Entertainment One (eOne), Bieler supervised content production for titles such as Netflix’s The Recruit, Designated Survivor for ABC and Netflix, HBO’s Run, Global’s Private Eyes (eOne, Piller/Segan) and most recently CTV’s The Spencer Sisters (eOne, Buffalo Gal Pictures).

At Blink49, Bieler joins a host of fellow eOne alums, including the foursome who launched the company in November 2021: CEO John Morayniss, CFO Nelson Kuo-Lee, COO Lynas, and non-executive vice chair Patrice Theroux.

Other eOne alumni on the roster include Toby Dormer and Allison Brough, who head the company’s unscripted arm as EVP and VP of unscripted television, respectively, and joined the company last year.

Bieler’s “proven leadership skills, deeply rooted industry relationships, and experience in production across various budget levels and genres filming across Canada and throughout the world make her an ideal fit for Blink49,” Lynas said in a statement.

Bieler said Blink49 Studios has “hit the ground running” and “built a strong foundation with a growing infrastructure” since launching.

Blink49 Studios’ slate features Hallmark Channel’s rodeo-themed family drama series Ride and Sight Unseen, which was announced for CTV at Bell Media’s upfront in June 2022 and is also produced by Sisters Troubetzkoy Productions.

The slate also includes adaptations of the novel Hold My Girl by Canadian author Charlene Carr, M.L. Rio’s thriller novel If We Were Villains with U.K. prodco Eleven Film, and a TV adaptation of Marissa Stapley’s sophomore novel Things To Do When It’s Raining.

Blink49, which also has offices in Vancouver and Los Angeles, has also signed multiple content development deals with Canadian talent, including an overall deal with The Walking Dead: World Beyond co-executive producer Ben Sokolowski; a first-look deal with award-winning writer, creator and director Sheri Elwood; and a long-term pact with Lilly Singh and her prodco Unicorn Island Productions.
