The cast of CBC’s Sort Of were among the winners at the 21st annual ACTRA Awards in Toronto, taking the Members’ Choice Series Ensemble Award.
The honour was handed out at a luncheon in Toronto on Wednesday (April 26) and comes on the heels of seven Canadian Screen Award wins for the CBC comedy, which stars co-creator Bilal Baig (pictured) and is produced by Sphere Media.
The annual ACTRA Awards recognize the achievements of the performers’ union members across on-screen, voice performance, and stunt work. Other winners included Raven Dauda for Outstanding Performance – Gender Non-Conforming or Female for the episode “Day Five” of Apple TV+ miniseries Five Days at Memorial.
Eric Peterson took the trophy for Outstanding Performance – Gender Non-Conforming or Male for Prime Video’s Junior’s Giant (Bankrupt T Clown Productions Limited).
In a category teeming with nominees from Netflix’s My Little Pony: Make Your Mark, cast member Bahia Watson won Outstanding Performance – Gender Non-Conforming or Female Voice for the episode “The Traditional Unicorn Sleepover.”
Outstanding Performance – Gender Non-Conforming or Male voice went to Billy MacLellan for narrating the audiobook Each Man’s Son (McGill-Queen’s University Press).
FX’s What We Do In The Shadows won the ACTRA Toronto Stunt Ensemble Award.
The ceremony also honoured Angelica Lisk-Hann with the Award of Excellence and Paul Rutledge with the ACTRA Toronto Stunt Award.
