A BC News Studios and Toronto-based Cream Productions are readying a docuseries that explores the history and impact of a beloved U.S. genre — the game show.
The Game Show Show (4 x 60 minutes) looks back at famous contestants, hosts, creators and scandals over 80 years of U.S. game shows as they became a TV staple. It will premiere on May 10 on ABC.
The series is produced by Cream Productions for ABC News Studios, with David Brady, Kate Harrison Karman, Sarah Gibson and John Ealer executive producing for Cream. David Sloan serves as a senior executive producer on the project, with Victoria Thompson executive producing for ABC News Studios.
It also features major names from the game-show genre including Drew Carey, Vanna White, Ken Jennings, Chuck Woolery, Amy Schneider, Bob Eubanks, Howie Mandel and Wayne Brady.
Cream previously dived into the history of other TV genres with CNN Original series The Story of Late Night and History of the Sitcom.
