M egan Colligan will depart from her post as president of Imax Entertainment.
Imax CEO Richard Gelfond announced Thursday (March 16) in an internal memo to employees that Colligan has resigned from the position. The company is now looking for her replacement, according to the memo.
Colligan (pictured) will remain until the end of April to help “see [Imax] through a busy period,” including CinemaCon and the company’s Q1 earnings report.
She first joined Imax Entertainment in February 2019, having previously held senior positions at Paramount Pictures, including worldwide president of marketing and distribution.
Gelfond recognized Colligan’s contributions to the company in the memo, stating that her four years “were among the most unique and challenging in the history of Imax” due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During her time as president, Colligan helped Imax expand into “local language blockbusters,” launched the Imax Live strategy, strengthened its relationships with studios, and created the Filmed For IMAX camera program.
“We are grateful for Megan’s contributions to the company during her tenure and wish her all the best of luck in her next chapter,” said Gelfond in a statement on Colligan’s departure.
“When I came to Imax four years ago, I had a big dream and an even bigger mandate: take a world-class brand and create new growth initiatives to drive even greater success,” wrote Colligan in a letter to Imax employees. “Today, as I get ready to leave Imax next month, our brand is stronger than ever, we finished 2022 especially strong, and 2023 is off to a fantastic start.”
Imax is headquartered in Toronto, New York, and L.A., and operates in 87 countries and territories as of Dec. 31, 2022.
