CBC is getting ready to serve up another helping of The Great Canadian Baking Show.
The culinary competition, produced by Boat Rocker’s Proper Television, has been renewed at the public broadcaster for a seventh season.
The series is based on the original U.K. format, The Great British Bake Off, which is owned by Love Productions and distributed by Sky. It features 10 home bakers in a low-stakes competition to win a cake stand and the title of star baker. The sixth season aired on CBC TV in fall 2022.
Ann Pornel and Alan Shane Lewis will return as the series hosts, alongside judges Bruno Feldeisen and Kyla Kennaley, a spokesperson for Proper Television confirmed to Playback Daily.
The new season marks the first time that Proper Television will hold open casting calls, which will unfold in-person at four locations in February and March: Halifax, Montreal, Edmonton, and Winnipeg. The prodco previously had invitation-only events for its auditions, according to a press release.
The season seven casting also marks the first time since season three that auditions will take place in-person. Virtual auditions will still be available for bakers unable to attend events in person.
The Great Canadian Baking Show is produced in association with CBC and Love Productions. Proper’s Cathie James and Lesia Capone are executive producers, while Mark Van de Ven is the series producer.
