Utah-based channel BYUtv has partnered with Montreal’s Sphere Animation on its first animated series, Saving Me.
The 20 x 22-minute 2D-animated series is produced by Sphere Animation (formerly Oasis Animation) and BYUtv. It has been in production since January 2021 and will continue into the fall.
Saving Me is split into two 10-episode seasons, with the first 10 episodes available to stream on the BYUtv app and website beginning Oct. 1. The first two episodes are slated for a broadcast premiere on BYUtv’s linear channel the same day.
The series follows an old, unhappy tech billionaire who goes back in time to meet his 11-year-old self and learn how to be a better person. The voice cast includes Ivan Sherry (Inspector Gadget), Adam Sanders (Clifford the Big Red Dog), Jonathan Tan (My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale), Amariah Faulkner (Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood), Ana Sani (Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City), Dan Chameroy (Hotel Transylvania: The Series), Cory Doran (Total DramaRama), and Jamie Watson (True and the Rainbow Kingdom).
More than 100 Canadian animation artists have worked on the series, according to a news release. It is the first collaboration between BYUtv and Sphere Animation. A Canadian broadcaster or streamer for the series has not been confirmed as of press time.
Sphere Animation’s family-friendly slate also includes the TVOkids series Riley Rocket.
