the Jan. 17, 1994 issue of this column had every intention of including the intriguing recipe for vegetable spring rolls sampled by Street on its visit to The Left Bank restaurant on Queen St. W. But the exigencies of copy layout meant the recipe fell from gigabyte grace. Still, it’s a nifty nosh, so here’s the chef’s secret: take white cabbage, carrots, curry, oyster sauce and, no kidding, Kraft Crunchy peanut butter and wrap it all in spring roll paper that’s been flash fried in peanut oil. Serve with cranberry sauce, nick some of the mountain of frites from your meal companion, et voila, great chow.
