Michelle Beaudoin – Right at home on Madison

Michelle Beaudoin, an Edmonton native, is only 19, but already she is starring in a tv series and has had roles in several films and MOWs.

Beaudoin says Penny, the character she plays on Madison, is not unlike herself, so she didn’t have to stretch her acting much to find the character. ‘Penny has a quick sense of humor, kind, sensitive. She’s young, growing up as an only child with a single mother, which I believe is valid in describing a person. I was brought up by a single mother and was a single child as well. She was close to who I was a couple years ago, so I just had to go back there.’

Beaudoin, who got her start in acting hosting an education show produced by ACCESS Network in Alberta, is now studying in New York at the Circle in the Square Theatre school. She’s not auditioning much now, because she says she can’t give all to school and look for work at the same time.

Although she plans to go back to Vancouver this summer, that may change. ‘If someone was to tell me a year ago I would be in New York this year, I would have said no way,’ says Beaudoin. So if New York calls, she just might answer. KM
