YTV investigates
ytv, sometimes criticized for a shortage of educational programming, is looking into creating more investigative shows. Two programs and one prospective series all focus on youth-oriented current affairs.
A 12-person news team headed to South Africa in mid-April to cover the elections from a Cape Town pov, focusing on how the outcome of the elections will affect the lives of local youth.
A pilot is in the works for a half-hour investigative show called Jefferson Street, a weekly examination of youth issues. The pilot should be complete by the end of May, according to executive producer Michael Quast.
Finally, word has it a second report similar to the one on South Africa but focusing on another part of the world is in the works.
Quast says the new programs will ‘continue in the tradition of ytv with entertaining as well as informative programming.’
