Montreal: Claude Heroux and Nicolas Clermont have been elected cochairs of l’Association des producteurs de films et de television du Quebec, the Quebec producers association.
Both Heroux, president of Communications Claude Heroux International, and Clermont, president of Filmline International, have strong foreign coproduction ties and the dual nomination should be beneficial to the apftq membership.
The election of officers was held at the apftq’s annual congress June 17-19 in Mont Oxford, Que., where about 50 member companies charted a five-year plan for Quebec’s film and television production industry.
apftq president and director general Louise Baillargeon says the talks were fruitful and will result in a Quebec producers’ manifesto, likely to be published by fall.
Baillargeon says the producers are also demanding Canadian Heritage release the Secor report on the operations of Telefilm Canada and the National Film Board commissioned last year.
Vincent Gabriele, president of Productions Sovimage, is the apftq’s new vice-president and Normand McKay, vice-president/general manager, Astral-Tech, is secretary-treasurer.
New apftq section heads are: features, Lyse Lafontaine (Verseau International) and Louise Gendron (Productions Du Cerf); television, Vincent Gabriele and Jacquelin Bouchard (Pixart); documentary, Nathalie Barton (InformAction); technical industries, Normand McKay; commercials, Pierre Lalande (Cinelande); and corporate film and video, Sylvie Berthiaume (Video 30).
