Life Network has signed its first two contracts for Canadian programs with Vancouver-based Soma Television.

Nature Walk has been contracted for 13 half-hour episodes and is expected to be renewed for 39 more in the spring, says Soma president Deepak Sahasrabudhe. Hosted by nature interpreter Sue Ellen Fast and budgeted at around $50,000 per episode, Nature Walk travels to parks across Canada to explore the environment of the region. Production is expected to wrap in November.

Women’s Wellness will offer a holistic approach to women’s health and fitness in a weekly magazine series. The 22 half-hour segments, with a budget of roughly $30,000 per show, are slated for production from November to February.

Both programs will be delivered for Life Network’s national launch date, Jan. 1, 1995.
