Amazon Studios taps Samantha De France as production executive, unscripted Canada

The former Our House Media COO will help the unscripted production team in Canada manage the production and delivery of various projects.

Samantha De France has been appointed production executive, unscripted Canada, at Prime Video and Amazon Studios Canada.

Based in Toronto, De France will help the unscripted production team in Canada manage the production and delivery of various projects for the Canadian and international markets. Her remit also includes helping manage the company’s projects and third-party production partners, and meeting with show producers, production managers and creative executives.

De France’s other responsibilities at Amazon Studios include overseeing all aspects of unscripted projects from development to production and post-production, as well as budget and production meetings with producers, production managers and creative executives.

De France has over 15 years of television production and operations management experience in the media sector, most recently as COO and production executive at Toronto-based Our House Media (OHM), where she oversaw all aspects of the company’s operations, including business affairs, legal, finance and human resources.

She was upped to COO after working as production supervisor and VP business and corporate affairs at OHM, according to her LinkedIn bio. De France’s other experience includes director of programming and development at Cineflix Productions and associate executive producer at Fever Films.

Amazon Studios appointed Brent Haynes as head of scripted series, Canada in May 2021, marking the first time Prime Video appointed a domestic content executive based in Canada. The former VP at The Comedy Network (now CTV Comedy Channel) reports to Christina Wayne, head of Canadian originals at Amazon Studios.
