Walton directs AGT Yellow Pages pool
Starting in Vancouver, The Ace Film Company director Mark Walton scored three days on a pool of 15-second spots for AGT Yellow Pages through Calgary’s bbdo office, while Allen Jones doubled as director/dop for the Western Canada Lottery Corporation. The one-day shoot came through Palmer Jarvis, Winnipeg.
Moving to Toronto, Imported Artists Film Company director Richard D’Alessio and dop Gary Waller hooked up for five days in Atlanta for GM Pontiac through MacLaren:Lintas. The D’Alessio/ Waller team also picked up one shoot and one prelight day in Las Vegas for Diet Pepsi and J. Walter Thompson. Third Floor Editing’s Jon Hopp handled post on the first job and Richard Unruh edited the second.
Avion Film Productions director Dan Hackett scored two days for McDonald’s out of Cossette. Stan Mestel was the cinematographer. Mestel pulled double-duty as director/dop for Jell-O out of Young and Rubicam, and George Morita directed and shot a day for Chrysler through bbdo.
Christopher Gentile of L.T.B. Productions directed a day for Cheerios out of fcb, with dop Harry Makin. Third Floor’s Barry McMann handled the edit. u.s. director Oscar Bassinson and dop Timothy Eaton were in town for a prelight and a shoot day for Towne Silverstein Rotter of New York and client Dapples Toys. Makin and director Vince Misiano joined forces for a Centrum Vitamins prelight and shoot. New York-based Carrafiello Diehl and Associates was the agency.
At Jolly Roger, Curtis Wehrfritz directed English- and French-language spots for Snickers, with Barry Peterson on camera. Hopp edited the two-day assignment. Bates Canada was the agency.
At Dalton/Kessler Productions, John Lloyd donned his director/ dop cap for a day for Woodfield through Baltimore-based Eisner and Associates, and Jack Churchill directed and shot four days for One-a-Day out of Tatham, Chicago.
At Damast Gordon and Associates, busy Boris Damast teamed up with cinematographer Nicholas Allen-Woolfe on a one-day Orville Redenbacher Popcorn Cakes job. Sheila Sweeney of Bob and Sheila Editing handled post. Ketchum Advertising in San Francisco was the agency. The duo picked up another day for Janssen Education Division out of Anderson Advertising. Post effects were done at Calibre Digital Design. Chameleon Film and Video’s Andy Attalai edited.
Damast also picked up a day for Lifesavers Squeezit, through Saatchi and Saatchi, New York, with Ronny Danna handling camera. Animation House and Calibre performed the post effects.
Also through Saatchi, Damast scored a day for McCain Ellio’s Food.
Damast, this time working with dop Robert Ganz and former Fallon McElliot creative director Pat Burnham, landed a day for General Mills’ Pop Secret Popcorn Bars through Campbell Mithun Esty, Minneapolis.
Also at dga, director Glen Schultz and dop Steve Gordon had two days for Lean Cuisine. The spot, ‘Rink,’ was edited by Chameleon’s Attalai.
The Players Film Company’s Henry Less doubled as director/ dop on a job for the Ministry of Finance’s Ontario Savings Bonds through Axmith McIntyre Wicht. Computer animation was done at Spin Productions, and Norm Odell of Flashcut Editing performed editing honors on the two-day assignment.
Stripes director Sam Pecoraro is working on a one-day shoot for Sears and Prism Communications, teaming up with dop Craig Mullins. Michelle Czukar takes posting credit. Drew Jarvis is directing and Miroslaw Baszak is shooting one day for Target through Kuleba Shylitt. Lorenzo Massa is the editor.
At Radke Films, director/dop Gabor Tarko pulled in two days on a pool of three for Pontiac Sunfire and MacLaren. Tarko also handled camera on a spot for Cantel Amigo. John Mastromonaco directed and Gee Jeffery and Partners was the agency.
In Montreal, veteran La Fabrique d’Images director Jacques Fournier and dop Allen Smith completed a new 30, ‘Promo Habitation,’ for Federation des caisses populaires Desjardins out of bcp. Director Marc S. Grenier and dop David Franco were the chosen duo on ‘Fille de Mac,’ a new French 30 for Burger King and agency Marketel.
Gilles Kasprzak directed ‘Always Aerosec,’ another French 30 for Procter and Gamble’s Always out of dmb&b. Steve Danyluk was the dop. Still more to come from director Michel Poulette and dop Smith, who completed the latest French/ English entry for Pharmaprix and PNMD/Publitel. It’s called ‘Photo.’
Cinelande did the honors on a four-day Health Canada/Sante Canada anti-smoking pool. Shot on location and in-studio, the pool was directed by Jean-Marc Piche. Much-traveled Peter Hartmann was the cinematographer and Michel Proulx art directed for the house. The job was out of McKim, Winnipeg.
At Productions Monique Huberdeau, recent action includes a Loto-Quebec Tele-Dollars shoot for Tam-Tam Publicite directed by Daniel Jaros, with dop Eric Cayla on board. The one-day Moliflex White studio shoot produced three cuts, a 30, a 25 and a five-second spot. Hybride Technologies handled animation and post.
Jaros and Cayla also teamed on a new French 30 for Ford Escort from Montreal’s Ford and Mercury Dealers and agency Young et Rubicam.
Scoop tv series director Pierre Houle and dop Maurice Roy got the call on the latest Petro-Canada promo, a vignette on kids with dreams produced on behalf of the national figure skating championships.
