Word is out the next feature production at Catalyst Entertainment’s Malta studios is Ridley Scott’s White Squawl. The 30-year-old studios are currently occupied with Cutthroat Island, a $100 million budgeted feature with about a 200-person crew. Reports are Scott’s pic will follow shortly after Cutthroat’s February exit from the Mediterranean island locale.
On the production end, Toronto-based Catalyst is in discussion with Fox Television on two series – one comedy, one drama. Two new Shining Time primetime drama seasonal specials are in the works as is a new series with Andrew Alexander (Second City) for cbc.
Also on Catalyst’s plate is a plan to resuscitate The Martin Short Show, a new comedy series which was pulled in the fall after three episodes had gone to air.
Charles Falzon, head of Catalyst, says nbc, WIC Western International Communications and Catalyst are working at getting the series back on board. They are looking at scripts with Short and hope to have at least six more episodes in production by the end of January. PC
