CFC partners with E1

The Canadian Film Centre has struck a partnership with E1 Entertainment, which has come on board as distributor for all new CFC-produced low-budget features.

E1 will handle the titles domestically and abroad, under the deal. CFC representatives were not available to provide further details.

The announcement comes as the film school, founded by Norman Jewison, continues to improve its CFC Features program, including increased production budget levels, increased fees for the writer/director/producer, and more leverage on post and shooting locations. The program now consists of the development and production labs, and the newly named E1 Entertainment distribution lab.

‘E1 Entertainment’s contribution to the program will ensure that Canadian filmmakers will have an opportunity to have their stories made and brought to screens around the world,’ commented CFC exec director Slawko Klymkiw in a release.

Among CFC’s recently released titles are Nurse.Fighter.Boy, from director Charles Officer, and Paul Fox’s The Dark Hours.
