Global original series Departure has set sail on its third season, with production now underway in St. John’s, N.L.

The series, created by Vincent Shiao and starring Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife; pictured), is produced by Toronto’s Shaftesbury in association with Corus Entertainment, Starlings Television and Red Arrow Studios International.

Jackie May (Van Helsing) serves as executive producer and showrunner for season three, with Eric McCormack (Travelers, Will & Grace) among the series’ new cast members. T.J. Scott, who was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for his work directing Departure season one in 2021 and won a CSA in 2015 for his work on Orphan Black, is the series director and executive producer.

Additional new cast members include Jake Weber (American Gothic), Patrick Sabongui (Homeland), Cihang Ma (Hudson & Rex), Brit MacRae (Hidden Springs) and Savonna Spracklin (Tribal). Returning cast members are Kris Holden-Ried (Clarice) and Mark Rendall (ReGenesis).

Executive producers are Christina Jennings, Scott Garvie and Panjabi, as well as Shiao and Paul Pope. Patrick Cassavetti serves as series producer. Additional executive producers are Starlings’ Chris Philip and Karine Martin, Propagate Content’s Ben Silverman, Red Arrow Studios International’s Tim Gerhartz and Rodrigo Herrera Ibarguengoytia and Sleeping Giant’s David A. Stern and D. Matt Geller.

The season three renewal was first announced by Corus during this year’s upfront presentations.

Previous seasons of Departure were co-productions, with U.K. prodco Greenpoint Productions partnering on season one and Ireland-based Deadpan Pictures for season two. Season one premiered on Global and U.S. streamer Peacock in fall 2020; season two – which features one of the final performances of the late Christopher Plummer – premiered on Peacock on Aug. 5 and is expected to air on Global later this year.
