Noovo renews Big Brother Célébrités for season two

Produced by Montreal's Entourage Télévision, the second season will return to Noovo for the 2022 winter schedule.

Bell Media’s French-language channel Noovo has renewed unscripted competition series Big Brother Célébrités for a second season.

The Quebec version of the popular Big Brother format is produced by Montreal’s Entourage Télévision in association with Bell Media. Banijay Rights holds the rights to the format, which sees a group of strangers live together and compete for a cash prize while under constant surveillance.

Season two of Big Brother Célébrités will return in January 2022, with singer Marie-Mai set to return as host. Celebrity contestants will be announced closer to the premiere date. The winner of season one was comedian Jean-Thomas Jobin.

The debut season of Big Brother Célébrités was the “most-watched show” on Noovo in 2020, according to Mélanie Bherer, GM, variety, lifestyle and documentary at Bell Media.

“Reaching an agreement for a second season of Big Brother Célébrités is an absolute thrill,” said Jane Rimer, SVP Canada at Banijay Rights, in a statement. “We’re in no doubt that the show’s second outing will resonate with audiences across French Canada even stronger than the first.”

The Big Brother format has been adapted to more than 60 programs since its creation and has been broadcast in over 80 countries, according to Banijay Rights. It currently totals more than 470 seasons and nearly 30,000 episodes.

Big Brother Célébrités is the second version of the popular format in Canada. English-language version Big Brother Canada, produced by Insight Productions for Corus Entertainment-owned channel Global, was renewed for a 10th season during the June upfronts.
