Heartland makes the leap to AVOD in the U.S., Autentic's new copro with Toronto's Go Button Media and PJ Masks soars to new markets.

FilmRise

FilmRise has acquired the U.S. AVOD distribution rights to the long-running drama Heartland, produced by Calgary’s SEVEN24 Films and Dynamo films. The New York-based distributor has acquired 214 episodes across 13 seasons and the TV movie A Heartland Christmas. FilmRise will bring Heartland to a number of ad-supported platforms in the U.S., including Tubi, The Roku Channel, IMDb TV, Peacock and Pluto TV.

Heartland, which is based on the best-selling novels from author Lauren Brooke, went into production on its 15th season earlier this year. The series has been a top-tier performer as an acquisition for streaming platforms in the U.S., according to data from Nielsen. Heartland was the No. 6 most-viewed acquisition according to Nielsen’s most recent data, with 354 million minutes viewed on Netflix in the week of May 24.

Go Button Media

Germany’s Autentic Distribution has added Go Button Media’s factual series Colossal Machines (6 x 45 minutes) to its unscripted slate. The series is a coproduction between the Toronto prodco and Autentic. Colossal Machines is the second copro between the companies, starting with The Animal Within (6 x 45 minutes) in 2020. The series, which looks at the design of some of the world’s largest machines, is now available for pre-sale.

eOne-Hasbro

The Hasbro-owned entertainment arm has inked new distribution deals for its CG-animated preschool adventure PJ Masks. New broadcasters to pick up the 52 x 11-minute first season include ABS-CBN (Philippines) and Coupang Play (South Korea). RTV (Indonesia), meanwhile, has picked up season two (52 x 11 minutes) to air this August.

PJ Masks, which premiered globally on Disney Junior in 2016 and now airs in more than 150 territories, follows a trio of kids who fight evildoers.
