Peacock orders family comedy from Toronto’s Lambur Productions

The U.S. streamer has ordered 10 episodes of Take Note, created by Joan Lambur, about a fictional singing competition for tweens.

Peacock has ordered Canadian scripted comedy series Take Note from Toronto’s Lambur Productions.

The 10 x 30-minute series is created by prodco founder Joan Lambur, who recently produced live-action series The Hardy Boys with Nelvana for Hulu and YTV. Lambur will serve as executive producer alongside co-showrunners Earl Davis (Teenage Bounty Hunters) and Michael Feldman (Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn).

Take Note is a family and kids-targeted series that follows a group of young singers as they compete in a fictional tween singing competition. It will feature original music as well as classic pop, R&B, country and rock songs.

The lead cast includes Braelyn Rankins (Doom Patrol), Nadine Roden (Murdoch Mysteries), Aadin Church (Broadway’s Dreamgirls) and Sebastian Spencer (Overlord and the Underwoods). Writers on the series include Ian Steaman, Amanda Joy, Jenn Siddle and Tally Knoll.

“We couldn’t be happier to be working with the dedicated team at Peacock,” said Lambur in a statement. “We’re confident the combination of comedy, heart and music will hit the right note with audiences and hope Take Note sparks the performer in all of us.”

The U.S. streaming service previously acquired season one of Shaftesbury’s Canada/U.K. copro Departure for its launch in 2020, and recently acquired the three-part docuseries on Ghislaine Maxwell from Blue Ant Studios. The streamer also selected Canadian Stephen Dunn to helm its Queer as Folk reboot.
