Crave renews Canada’s Drag Race for season two

Casting is underway for the second season of the Canadian drag sensation, with production expected to begin in the coming months.

In the midst of a whirlwind week, Bell Media has confirmed that its Crave original hit series Canada’s Drag Race has been renewed for a second season.

Casting is now underway for the 10 x 60-minute second season, produced by Blue Ant Studios in association with Crave and World of Wonder, with production set to begin in the coming months. World of Wonder holds the format rights for parent series RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Trevor Boris (Big Brother Canada) has come on board the series as showrunner. Mike Bickerton was an executive producer and showrunner on season one. A spokesperson from Bell Media confirmed to Playback Daily that Bickerton is not involved in season two.

Executive producers for season two are World of Wonder’s Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato and Tom Campbell, Blue Ant Studios’ Michael Kot, Laura Michalchyshyn, Betty Orr and Pam McNair, as well as RuPaul.

Canada’s Drag Race season one is the top-performing Canadian series and Crave original in the platform’s history. It’s also the third best overall series on Crave, following HBO’s Game of Thrones and The Undoing, and was Playback‘s Unscripted Series of the Year in 2020. The first season has already been sold to the U.S., U.K., Australia and Israel.
