Blue Ant Media elevates Jamie Schouela to president, global channels and media

The Toronto-headquartered company has also promoted Love Nature EVP Carlyn Staudt to global general manager.

jamie.schouelaEffective immediately, Blue Ant Media has promoted president, Canadian media Jamie Schouela to president, global channels and media (pictured right), and upped Love Nature EVP, programming and development Carlyn Staudt (below left) to the position of global general manager.

Continuing to report to Blue Ant Media’s CEO and co-founder Michael MacMillan and be based in Toronto, Schouela’s new post will see him focus his efforts on leading the Toronto-headquartered content producer, distributor and channel operator’s streaming and linear television networks, global digital platforms, print products and consumer events.

Previously, as president, Canadian media – a role Schouela has served in since 2017 – the executive was responsible for Blue Ant’s Canadian television, media and consumer events businesses. He is also credited with having a background in building premium, multi-platform media brands and being a driver of Blue Ant’s strategy to expand its brands on platforms such as Amazon Channels, AppleTV+ and Roku.

Meanwhile, remaining in Washington, Staudt will head up Love Nature’s strategic direction and operations globally. Blue Ant Media’s joint venture with Smithsonian Networks, the family-friendly global wildlife brand reaches 200 million homes around the world via its branded linear and streaming platforms and through partnerships with top-tier pay-TV platforms and streamers, according to a press release. Previously, as EVP, programming and development for Love Nature, she was responsible for the global programming strategy for the brand’s linear platforms internationally and commissioned original content.

Reporting to Schouela, the former National Geographic executive’s duties include commissioning, development, programming, digital content, international affiliate sales, marketing and communications. She has also joined Blue Ant’s corporate management team. Blue Ant Media’s senior director, global communications Sarah Etherden told Playback Daily that these promotions did not result in any other role changes.

“These promotions ladder up to Blue Ant Media’s commitment to streamlining its core priorities, which include content production, ownership and exploitation in all its forms,” said MacMillan in a statement. “Jamie and Carlyn have proven track records building successful media brands in North America and around the globe. I am pleased to see them at the helm of our channels business, propelling our company forward in our ever-changing industry.”
