The cast of Global’s Nurses will step back into their scrubs on March 2 when production on season two begins in Toronto.

The series, produced by ICF Films and Entertainment One, was renewed ahead of its Jan. 6 series premiere, with a 10-episode order for season two. Series creator Adam Pettle will return as showrunner and executive producer.

Nurses launched with close to 1.3 million viewers for its first episode, becoming “the most-watched premiere episode of a scripted Canadian series in over two years for total viewers,” according to a release from Corus Entertainment. The premiere was also No. 1 in the 25 to 54 demographic.

New to the cast in season two are Rachael Ancheril (Mary Kills People) and Katie Uhlmann (My Roommate’s an Escort), who are joined by returning cast members Tiera Skovbye, Natasha Calis, Jordan Johnson-Hinds, Sandy Sidhu and Donald MacLean Jr. Additional cast members will be announced at a later date.

Executive producers on Nurses are Ilana Frank of ICF Films, Linda Pope, Jocelyn Hamilton of eOne, Patrick Tarr, Tassie Cameron and Pettle. Julie Puckrin is co-executive producer.

Tarr (Cardinal) is a new member of the Nurses writing staff, along with Ley Lukins (The Detail) and Hayden Simpson (Burden of Truth), who join returning writers Pettle, Puckrin, Anusree Roy, Seneca Aaron, Eilis Kirwan and Laura Good.

Nurses is produced in association with Corus Entertainment and the participation of the Canada Media Fund and the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit.
