– CTV News moves back

Starting Aug. 31, Maritimers will be able to watch CTV National News with Lloyd Robertson at 11 p.m. Atlantic time, instead of at midnight. atv’s local news will now air at 11:30 p.m. instead of an hour later.

– Country Can goes prime

CBC’s Country Canada, the longest-running network program on Canadian tv, will begin airing in primetime starting Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Slotted on Sunday afternoons for much of its 44-year run, the show is now moving to Wednesday evenings.

In the coming season, Country Canada will head down to Australia to document the concerns of that country’s farming community.

Country Canada is produced in Winnipeg with offices in Halifax and Edmonton. Nigel Simms is executive producer.

– Illusion makes Arrangement

Principal photography has begun on Calgary-based Illusion Entertainment’s feature film The Arrangement. The police thriller features Michael Ironside, Currie Graham and Lori Petty.

Production of The Arrangement comes on the heels of the company’s A Question of Privilege, which recently wrapped in Edmonton. By shooting the two films back to back, Illusion was able to utilize the same cast and crew.

Ironside is also writer and director on The Arrangement and Bruce Harvey produced in association with the ctcpf and the A-Channel Fund. International distribution is through Italy’s Eagle Pictures and Lion’s Gate Films is handling North America. Theatrical release is slated for next summer.
