Classical music label CBC Records has signed a distribution agreement with PolyGram Group Canada.
CBC Records has been searching for a distribution partner after its longtime partner Denon Canada ceased its music distribution operation earlier this year.
The new partnership will result in more effective retail distribution of CBC Records’ products and enhance the profile of the independent label’s roster of classical artists, according to Randy Barnard, gm of CBC Records.
‘Criteria for this agreement was established early,’ says Barnard. ‘We looked at several companies’ expertise in distribution, manufacturing and marketing – PolyGram won hands down.’
CBC Records releases approximately 30 new titles a year and is an extension of the services provided by CBC Radio.
A Holland-based music and filmed entertainment company, PolyGram was recently purchased by Montreal’s Seagram Company, which has put PolyGram’s film interests up for sale.
