camera filming Production is underway in Quebec on Gallant: Confessions d’un tueur a gages from Christal Films Productions.

Penned by Sylvain Guy (Mafia Inc.) and directed by Luc Picard (Les rois mongols) – who also plays the film’s lead role of Gerald Gallant – the project is an adaptation of journalists Eric Thibault and Felix Seguin’s 2015 book of the same name.

Gallant examines the life of Gerald Gallant, a man who is considered “one of the most prolific hitmen of our time,” according to a press release. The film is produced by Christian Larouche, whose credits include Junior Majeur and Les 3 p’tits cochons 2.

Production is expected to wrap in Montreal, Quebec City and its surrounding areas this October, with the crew travelling to Brussels and Cuba this November.

In August, the film picked up funding from the Quebecor Fund alongside Ricardo Trogi’s Guide de la famille parfait, Miryam Bouchard’s Mon cirque a moi and La cordonniere, which was also written by Guy. The feature also received financial support from Telefilm Canada, SODEC, the Harold Greenberg Fund, CBC, Les Films Opal and Quebec and federal tax credits.

Larouche’s newly launched Les Films Opal banner will distribute the film theatrically in Quebec next year.
