The Ontario government has pledged more than $12.8 million to 10 film and TV projects filmed in Northern Ontario.

Television productions landed the bulk of the investment with more than $10 million. A total of $3.4 million in funding was provided to Sienna Films for production on the fourth season of Cardinal in North Bay and Sudbury, while Hideaway Pictures’ When Hope Calls, a spinoff of the Hallmark series When Calls the Heart, received $3 million.

Rob Heydon Productions’ Last Ritual has received $2 million, with $1 million going to the series Rising Suns and Distinct Features’ Unsettled each. All series have production set in North Bay.

Three feature films netted coin as well, including Like a House on Fire (Colonelle Films and Woods Entertainment), which received $500,000. Dancing Through the Shadow of Mao, shot in Nipissing District, also received $500,000 while Alley Lime Productions’ Exit Papers from Paradise took in $401,640.

The remaining $1 million went to made-for-TV films Country at Heart, produced by CastNorth, and Valentine in Angel Falls, receiving $500,000 each.
