The Canadian Film Centre (CFC) hosted its annual Garden Party on June 19 with founder Norman Jewison on hand to celebrate the CFC’s more than 30-year history. Guests wined and dined on the grounds as Christina Jennings, president and chairman of Shaftesbury and CFC board chair, and CFC CEO Slawko Klymkiw, emceed the event. Special guest speakers included Netflix director, original series, Lisa Hamilton Daly, who spoke about the Canadian industry’s impact on the streamer’s slate, with CFC alumni involved in productions such as Virgin River and Tiny Pretty Things. Business / Arts president and CEO Nichole Anderson and chairman Robert Foster followed up to announce the winners of its annual awards.
Guests were also invited into the main house to try AR demos from Pixils and Mondo Forma and a VR demo of Mother of the Forest, a coproduction from the CFC Media Lab and OCAD University.
