Omnifilm Entertainment and independent producer-distributor Parade Media have struck a strategic content partnership, giving Parade Media the exclusive Latin America rights to a number of factual entertainment programs from the Vancouver-headquartered prodco.
According to a press release, this deal will allow Omnifilm Entertainment expand its footprint in the Latin America market. Titles under the agreement include: Ice Pilots Nwt (73 x 60 minutes); Jade Fever (54 x 30 minutes); Wild Bear Rescue (24 x 30 minutes); The Dolphin Dealer (1 x 60 minutes); Cannabiz (1 x 60 minutes); Pyros (16 x 60 minutes); and new programs like Shimmy (26 x 30 minutes) and Namaste Yoga (52 x 30 minutes). Through the pact, U.K.’s Parade, which has operations in Miami, Sydney and Singapore, will also represent these titles as well as the company’s forthcoming lineup.
Docuseries Ice Pilots Nwt sees a veteran northern aviator and his Buffalo Airways crew take on impossible arctic missions, while Jade Fever tracks the Funce family, who have a large jade mining claim in Jade, B.C. Another docuseries, Wild Bear Rescue, produced by Omnifilm in association with Animal Planet, follows Northern Lights Wildlife Shelter in B.C., the only shelter in the world licensed to raise and release grizzlies.
Additionally, Omnifilm-produced documentary CannaBiz (2010) examines the cannabis business and Canada’s drug laws through cannabis growers in Grand Forks, B.C. and other Canadian towns. Docuseries Pyros, meanwhile, sees an elite group of pyrotechnicians travel the world with the goal of becoming the best company in its field. Finally, Shimmy is a instructional belly dancing video system, and Namaste Yoga offers a yoga practice for people who want to live healthier, happier and fitter life.
This agreement follows the news that Omnifilm Entertainment has optioned the TV rights to author Ami McKay’s novel The Birth House, teaming up with Kerri MacDonald (Republic of Doyle) and Little Dog showrunner Sherry White to adapt the project.
Parade Media is set to attend international marketplace NATPE Budapest later this month.
