Canadian projects and companies had a good night at the 46th Annual Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, with Sinking Ship and 9 Story among the winners.

Sinking Ship-produced Odd Squad won Outstanding Children’s or Family Viewing Series ahead of American Ninja Warrior Junior, Chicken Soup for The Soul’s Hidden Heroes, Top Chef Junior and The Who Was? Show.

The series, which airs on PBS in the U.S. and TVO in Canada, also won the prize for Outstanding Writing for a Children’s, Preschool Children’s, Family Viewing, As well, Sinking Ship’s J.J. Johnson claimed the outstanding directing prize for the made-for-TV movie Odd Squad: World Turned Odd, which won the Outstanding Directing for a Children’s, Preschool Children’s or Family Viewing Program category.

Sinking Ship picked up four awards on the night, with Michela Luci winning Outstanding Performer in a Children’s, Family Viewing or Special Class Program for her role in Dino Dana. 

The trophy haul for its live-action properties comes on the heels of last week’s announcement that it is launching an animated division.

Elsewhere, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, produced by Fred Rogers Productions, 9 Story Media Group and Out of the Blue won Outstanding Preschool Children’s Animated Series.

The show, which is exec produced by Angela Santomero, Kevin Morrison and Vince Commisso, won the category ahead of Ask the StoryBots, Elena of Avalor, Esme & Roy, Muppet Babies and Tumble Leaf. Peg + Cat, which is coproduced by 9 Story, also won Outstanding Original Song in a Children’s or Animated Program for the song “Making a World With My Friend.”

There were other Canadians in the win column, with Jay Baruchel nabbing the Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program category for his voice role in Dragons: Race to the Edge (Netflix). As well, Beat Bugs (Netflix), which is coproduced by Atomic Cartoons, won the award for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Preschool Animated Program.
