Sinking Ship Entertainment has proved once more that Canadian kids content is a force to be reckoned with, landing eight Daytime Emmy nominations for Dino Dana and another seven for its Odd Squad franchise.

In total, the prodco is up for 15 nominations at the 46th annual awards. Presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the event honours the best in programs and craft behind daytime TV.

This year will see Odd Squad and Dino Dana (pictured) square-off against one another in three categories: Outstanding Writing for a Children’s, Preschool Children’s or Family Viewing Program; Outstanding Directing for a Children’s, Preschool Children’s or Family Viewing Program; and Outstanding Art Direction, Set Direction, Scenic Design.

Dino Dana, Odd Squad and the Odd Squad film (World Turned Odd) make up three of the five nominations in the best writing and directing categories. Sinking Ship’s J.J. Johnson received three of the five nominations in the Outstanding Direction category for his work on Dino Dana, Odd Squad: World Turned Odd and Odd Squad alongside Melanie Orr and Stefan Scaini.

Dino Dana is also up for the Outstanding Preschool Children’s Series prize against The Big Fun Crafty Show, Miss Persona, Sesame Street and Snug’s House.

Additionally, Dino Dana‘s Bill Cobbs and Michela Luci will also compete against one another in the Outstanding Performer in a Children’s, Family Viewing or Special Class Program section. Mainframe Studios’ ReBoot: The Guardian Code also earned a nom for actor Hannah Vandenbygaart in the same category. Last year, Netflix acquired the worldwide rights to the animated reboot outside of Canada. ReBoot‘s only other Daytime Emmy nom is in the Outstanding Sound Mixing category.

Meanwhile, in Outstanding Art Direction, Set Decoration and Scenic Design, Odd Squad and Dino Dana are nominated alongside The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Prince of Peoria, The Talk and Tomorrow’s World Today. Dino Diana will also face off against The Ellen DeGeneres Show for best lighting direction.

Beat Bugs from Atomic Cartoons, Netflix, Grace: A Storytelling Company and Beyond Screen Production is also up against fellow Canadians in the Outstanding Sound Mixing For a Preschool Animated Program and the Outstanding Sound Editing For a Preschool Animated Program at the awards. Beat Bugs will compete against two Nickelodeon shows from Spin Master, Paw Patrol: Mighty Pups and Rusty Rivets, in Outstanding Sound Mixing section. Meanwhile, Beat Bugs is also up for best sound editing with Let’s Go Luna! from Spin Master’s Brown Bag Films.

Other highlights from the nominations include: Peg + Cat (9 Story Media Group/9ate7 Productions/The Fred Rogers Company/CloudKid Studios) receiving five noms; Hilda (Mercury Filmworks/Silvergate Media/Netflix) taking home four; Light As a Feather (Wattpad Studios/AwesomenessTV/Grammnet) earning four; Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood (9 Story Media Group/The Fred Rogers Company/Out of the Blue) taking home three nominations; Esme & Roy (Nelvana/Sesame Workshop) walking away with three nods; and The Wild Kratts (9 Story Media Group/Kratt Brothers Company) receiving a nom for best writing in an animated program.
