Bron drama Harry Haft underway in Hungary

Directed by Barry Levinson and starring Ben Foster (pictured), the film follows an Auschwitz survivor who challenges boxer Rocky Marciano.

Production is underway in Hungary on Bron Studios and New Mandate Films’ boxing drama with director Barry Levinson.

Based on Alan Scott Haft’s novel Harry Haft: Survivor of Auschwitz, Challenger of Rocky Marciano, the feature, Harry Haft, follows the story of a man who fights against legendary boxer Rocky Marciano to try to find his first love again. Ben Foster stars as the title character.

Penned by The 100‘s Juel Gillmer, the project is produced in association with Bron financing partner, Creative Wealth Media. The film officially started shooting in Hungary last week and is expected to wrap in New York this spring. High-profile cast including Danny DeVito, Vicky Krieps, Peter Sarsgaard, Saro Emirze, Dar Zuzovsky and John Leguizamo have also joined the project.

Levinson also serves as a producer on Harry Haft alongside Scott Pardo, Jason Sosnoff, New Mandate Film’s Matti Leshem and Bron’s Aaron L. Gilbert.

Most recently, Netflix acquired the global rights (excluding China) to The Red Sea Diving ResortA coventure between Bron Studios, EMJAG and G. Raff Productions, in association with Creative Wealth, the feature is based on the story of a spy agency in the early 1980s that was ordered to help thousands of Jewish refugees from Ethiopia travel through Sudan to Israel.
