Who are your mentors?

Even one who is so clearly a hero to others has those who mentored her. Who stands out in Phyllis Yaffe’s mind as mentor figures?

‘Peter Grant – he’s one of the people who brings together cultural issues at his law firm – that’s what he likes to do, that’s what he’s a star at, and he’s a model for a whole bunch of people.

‘Annabel Slaight taught me a lot about the enthusiasm she had and the creativity she brought to everything. I am a big fan and admirer of hers.

‘Harold and Ian Greenberg were certainly pivotal in changing my life, in getting me into a different world.

‘Of the people I work with now, Michael MacMillan – I’ve learned a huge amount from him in the short time we’ve worked together.

‘Robert Lantos is in a category all by himself. He taught me huge determination and willingness to make something happen. One of his great strengths is that he’s absolutely a determined human being, but he’s also an honorable human being. I was really impressed by working with him at the honor and the commitment he made to living up to what he said he would do. I’m a big fan of his.
