Dance Revolution earns second act

The format developed and produced by Montreal's Quebecor Content and prodco Fair-Play will return to TVA next year.

TVA has renewed its dance-competition series Dance Revolution (“Révolution”) for a second season.

The format, developed and produced by Montreal’s Quebecor Content and prodco Fair-Play, sees participants competing for a $100,000 grand prize, with the judges using 360-degree video technology to dissect the dancers’ moves.

Season one (11 x 90 minutes) premiered this fall and has attracted nearly 1.4 million viewers each week, according to TVA. Season two of Dance Revolution will return in 2019, though no broadcast date has been set.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Omnicom Media’s Highway Entertainment would help shop the series in the international market.

Meanwhile, Tel Aviv, Israel-based Armoza Formats is shopping the format rights internationally. Last week the Armoza announced it had sold the format rights to Paris, France-based prodco Réservoir Prod, a subsidiary of Lagardère Studios.
