DGC signs accountants

The Ontario District Council of the Directors Guild of Canada has added production accountants and their assistants to the Guild Basic Agreement with the cftpa.

‘We now represent the majority of working production accountants in Ontario. Negotiations with the cftpa were concluded very quickly once we started and this bodes well for future discussions,’ states odc executive director Marcus Handman.

The Guild has already signed more than 220 production accountants.

‘There was a general feeling amongst the production accountants that we needed the benefits of an organization to standardize skills and ensure a pool of knowledgeable, talented, trained individuals. We also wanted some kind of benefit plan,’ states Janina Barrett, representative of the Production Accountants Caucus.

The dgc/odc represents more than 1,500 key creative and logistical personnel in the tv and film industries, working in Canada and abroad. *
