* On the heels of a pink slip frenzy that saw 130 Imax Corp. workers lose their jobs, the large-format company has hired former MGM/UA executive Greg Foster to develop and produce large-format movies for the Toronto-based exhibition chain. He will be based at Imax’s Santa Monica office.

* John Fretz, former production manager at the National Film Board, has been appointed supervising producer, animation, for Cinar Entertainment.

* Caroline Godin has joined Ellis Entertainment as its new manager of program sales, replacing sales exec Reg McGuire. Godin is a former marketing and publicity manager for Columbia TriStar.

* Producer Anthony Del Col (In Camera) has joined S&S Productions as head of its new marketing and distribution division.

* Carol Chestnut, formerly VP of business and legal affairs at Alliance Atlantis Communications in Toronto, will join the Vancouver entertainment law practice group of Heenan Blaikie in July.

* Mary-Pat Gleeson, the last of the four founding partners in Vancouver distributor Red Sky Entertainment, is leaving Vancouver and Red Sky to deal with family matters in Ontario. The popular local film booster will continue to act as a consultant for Red Sky and the Vancouver industry.

* Cathy Crockett is the new director of marketing and communications at B.C.’s Knowledge Network. She has 25 years of marketing experience and most recently was director of resource development at the United Way of the Lower Mainland.

* Karla Bobadilla has joined Astral Media – The Harold Greenberg Fund as director, business and legal affairs. Since 1999, Bobadilla has worked at Arto-Pelli Motion Pictures as director, business and legal affairs, where she co-ordinated Arto-Pelli’s new media activities, including the creation of a cyber film school.

* After signing on as a director one year ago, Hugh McKinnon is the new chairman of the board at Rainmaker Entertainment Group in Vancouver.

Previously, McKinnon was the president of Okanagan Skeena Group prior to its acquisition in 1999 by Telemedia. He replaces former chair Stuart (Tookie) Angus who, while remaining a Rainmaker director, is focussing his time on his new role as a partner at the law firm Faskin Martineau & DuMoulin.

* Pierre Lampron, president and CEO of TVA International, has been appointed to the Banff Television Foundation’s board of directors.

* Micol Marotti, publicity manager for the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, has joined the national office of ACTRA as its new public relations officer.

Dave Miller, the Academy’s former box office co-ordinator, has been appointed publicity co-ordinator.

* The Directors Guild of Canada Ontario District Council’s new slate of officers for 2001/02 includes chairperson Peter Rowe, first vice-chairperson Don McCutcheon, second vice-chairperson Myron Hoffert, treasurer Nathalie Laporte and secretary Jerry Ciccoritti.

* Arts administrator Robyn Ludwig is the new co-ordinator at Women in Film & Video Vancouver and replaces Clare Hodge, who is pursing her producing career. WIFVV has 600 members. *
