Production wraps on Nick Butler’s sophomore feature Lunar Sway

The film stars Noah Parker as a young man coping with the return of his estranged mother, played by Liza Weil.

Production has wrapped on the feature Lunar Sway, written, directed and produced by Nick Butler.

The dark comedy character study, set in New Mexico, was shot in B.C. from Sept. 3 to 30. Noah Parker (Who by Fire) stars as an eccentric young man whose life is upended by the arrival of his estranged birth mother, played by Liza Weil (Gilmore Girls). Also starring is Grace Glowicki (Tito) and Douglas Smith (Big Love).

The film follows the Canadian director’s feature directorial debut The Legacy of Cloudy Falls with both films being produced by Butler’s New York-based prodco Cloudy Pictures.

Aside from Butler, producers include Lucas Meeuse (That TVOkids Show) and Jennifer Wrede (The Legacy of Cloudy Falls). Co-producing is Izad Etemadi (Orphan Black: Echoes) while Robin Cass (Brown Girl Begins) is an executive producer, according to a release.

Lunar Sway is financed with support from Telefilm Canada and the Canada Council For The Arts. Cloudy Pictures is planning to launch the film during the 2025 festival season.
