Blue Ant
Blue Ant International has added the first original scripted series to its sales catalogue as it expands its offerings heading into next month’s MIPTV. In total, the Toronto-headquartered media co is taking around 450 hours of recently acquired and original content to the Cannes market, including the adult animated series Gary and His Demons (8 x 30 minutes, pictured), produced through its recently launched animation banner Look Mom! Productions. As well, Blue Ant International has added season four of Our House Media’s Paranormal Survivor, in addition to Farmhouse Productions’ Brojects: Built for the Weekend (6 x 30 minutes) and Architect Films’ Best Cake Wins (10 x 30 minutes). Other notable acquisitions include The First World War: The People’s Story (3 x 60 minutes), produced by U.K.-based Testimony Films, and I Am War (1 x 60 minutes) from Ontario-based Northern Sky Entertainment.
Cineflix Rights
Cineflix Media’s U.K.-based sales arm Cineflix Rights has acquired a number of titles ahead of MIPTV, including the hour-long documentary The Queen’s Green Planet (ITN Productions), about the Queen’s project to build a global network of protected forests, and Expecting (17 x 30 minutes, UP Entertainment), a docuseries that follows couples as they navigate pregnancy. The company also acquired the PBS documentary Going to War (1 x 60 minutes, Vulcan Productions), which explores the experience of two soldiers. In addition, Cineflix Rights will arrive at the TV market with a pair of series produced through its main production arm, Cineflix Media. The first, Sinking Cities (4 x 60 minutes), is produced for PBS and follows local planners, first responders, scientists and engineers as they battle with climate change, while the other, Secrets of the Morgue (13 x 60 minutes; no broadcaster yet announced), explores high-profile murder cases from the perspective of medical examiners.
Syndicado
Toronto-based digital distributor Syndicado has picked up the rights to over 250 hours of content, including a number of Buck Productions’ properties. Among those recent pickups are 97 episodes of Buck’s Rich Bride, Poor Bride and the show Keys to the VIP, which airs on Comedy Network and Fuse TV. Other wedding-themed reality shows include Buck’s Petal Pushers and Cake Walk. The distributor is also representing over 25 hours of war-themed content at MIPTV, including a tank competition between nations, Tank Biathlon, as well as Frank Capra’s 1942 military documentary Prelude to War,The Dambusters Raid, Great American Generals, Memphis Belle, Battle of Britain, After Desert Storm and Stealth: The Art of Deception.
