Lambur Productions, the fledgling prodco formed by former VP of family entertainment at Breakthrough Entertainment Joan Lambur in September, has announced its first major deal.
The Toronto-based kids prodco has optioned the TV rights to bestselling author Sophie Kinsella’s first book for young children, Fairy Mom and Me.
Lambur Productions, along with Kinsella (pictured), her agent Lucas Alexander Whitley and U.K.-based exec producer Helen McAleer, will develop the book for a series of live-action TV movies. The deal was negotiated by McAleer as well as Araminta Whitley and Philippa Milnes-Smith for Lucas Alexander Whitley
The book tells the story of Ella and her mother, a fairy whose spells almost always go wrong. Fairy Mom and Me was just released in the U.S. and Canada by Delacorte this January. It will be published in the U.K. by Puffin in February 2018. A second title follows in the U.K. in August 2018 (which will be published in the U.S. and Canada in January 2019).
Kinsella is the author of the Shopaholic series, which was adapted into a feature film, as well as other titles such as My Not So Perfect Life and The Undomestic Goddess. Her books have sold more than 40 million copies worldwide and been translated into more than 40 languages.
Lambur launched her Toronto-based prodco in late September 2017, alongside former Breakthrough VP of family entertainment Suzanne Wilson, who serves as COO.
