Love It or List It producer Big Coat Media has bolstered its development team with the addition of Brooks Gray and Frank Sutera.
Sutera, who previously served as VP of international production for Sony Pictures Television, has joined Big Coat as SVP of development.
Based in L.A., Sutera will be charged with developing and pitching projects to the U.S. market. He will also work to implement a strategy for bringing new programming to Canadian and international markets.
Big Coat has inked deals with several European broadcasters to adapt its Love It or List It format for their local audiences, and two seasons of the format have been produced for the U.K.’s Channel 4.
“[Sutera] brings a tremendous wealth of experience in the U.S./international markets that will play an integral role in the company’s continued expansion,” said CEO Maria Armstrong in a statement.
While at Sony, Sutera oversaw production on the international versions of formats such as The Amazing Race and Top Model. Throughout his career, he’s served as a producer, production exec and creative consultant on multiple formats and recently developed projects with FOX, ABC Family, WEtv and History.
Meanwhile, Gray (pictured), perhaps best known as the co-creator and exec producer of The Amazing Gayl Pile, will join Big Coat as head of development. Based in the company’s Toronto office and reporting to Sutera, Gray will work with content creators to develop new programming, with a particular focus on building the prodco’s scripted slate for both traditional and emerging platforms.
In addition to serving as a writer, director and actor on Gayl Pile, Gray served as a producer on Cock’d Gunns and has written, developed and produced dozens of hours of content for CBC, Discovery, History, YTV, IFC and others.
