Producer Rebecca Yates dies suddenly

BBR Productions development VP Rebecca Yates died the morning of July 16 surrounded by family members after being diagnosed with an especially virulent form of cancer only weeks ago.

Yates, 52, had worked in theatre, TV and feature films over 25 years. Her filmography includes the Genie Award-winning feature Milk & Honey, the CBC series Rubber Face, Jen’s Place and Further Tales of the City.

She was a cofounder of production house Cineflix and president of Productions Esplanade. She joined Suzanne Girard and BBR when it became part of the l’Equipe Spectra group in March 2000.

She leaves behind her former partner, Glen Salzman, and her three children, Pascal, 14, Zoe, 21, and Pablo, 17.
