Philadelphia-based distributor Breaking Glass Pictures has taken U.S. rights to Ingrid Veninger’s Porcupine Lake. 

The deal was struck by Philippe Tasca-Roochvarg, of Paris, France-based sales agent Outplay Films and Rich Wolff, CEO of Breaking Glass. Outplay picked up world rights to the coming-of-age drama in February, marking the company’s first Canadian acquisition.

Porcupine Lake had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last week. Negotiations for the film began after its first screening at the fest. Porcupine Lake has since been added to the lineup at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea.

The film was written, produced and directed by Veninger. It stars newcomers Charlotte Salisbury and Lucinda Armstrong Hall, alongside Delphine Roussel, Christopher Bolton, Hallie Switzer, Harrison Tanner. It was produced with the participation of Telefilm Canada, Bell Media’s Harold Greenberg Fund and Films We Like. Exec producers on the project are Randi Kirshenbaum and Melissa Leo.

Films We Like is handling Canadian distribution.
