Toronto’s Eyes Post Group has purchased the assets of the cross-town post-production house formerly known as The Post Group. Eyes and the staff of The Post Group have given the shop the new handle KAOS Digital Post Environment.

Eyes president and owner Izhak Hinitz reportedly purchased the assets of The Post Group from a receivership in February, bringing the shop into his fold, yet keeping the location, staff and gear intact. KAOS staffers say little has changed in terms of the day-to-day operation.

‘All of our clients stayed with us and we continued to work,’ says KAOS creative director Nick Iannelli. ‘There was never an actual shutdown, and not an hour of work lost.’

Although Eyes holds ownership and maintains an office within the KAOS facility, Iannelli says KAOS is being run as a ‘distinct and separate company,’ with the bonus of being able to offer more services through its new parent.

‘We’re able to complement each other more,’ says Iannelli. ‘[For example], when they do telecine transfer, we are able to provide the final neg output and the final going back to film, and effects as well.’

Julie Johnson, KAOS’ VP of production services, says the company continues to be busy with work on the Pebblehut Productions series Sue Thomas F.B. Eye and Doc.
