Judith Beauchemin named CMJ president

Founder of the Montreal factual prodco, John Kuyk, will step into a strategic advisor role.

judith beauchemin headshotJudith Beauchemin, a long-time senior executive at Montreal factual producer CMJ Productions, has been promoted to president of the company.

Former president and founder John Kuyk will step down from the role and continue in a strategic capacity, where he will focus on “developing new and innovative business models to guide CMJ’s future expansion,” according to an announcement issued Wednesday.

The promotion comes six months after CMJ was acquired by Quebec-based producer Attraction Media for an undisclosed fee. More recently, Attraction announced the launch of its new Attraction Studios banner, which is comprised of the company’s production and distribution arms as well as CMJ.

Beauchemin joined CMJ in 2002, eventually climbing to the role of EVP, where she oversaw management of budgets and scheduling on a number of unscripted series including A Stranger in my Home (Slice) Million Dollar Genius (History channel in the U.S.) and Celebrity Damage Control (Reelz). Prior to joining CMJ, Beauchemin worked as a freelance production manager for a number of Montreal-based television companies.
