Reel success for mock doc

The Delicate Art of Parking, a Vancouver-produced feature-length mockumentary, has grossed more than $100,000 from only eight theaters since its limited national release by Cinema Libre May 13.The comedy began an exclusive run in its hometown April 2, where it grossed $59,461 from two theaters over three weeks.

Meanwhile, despite the recent buzz surrounding theatrical docs, Ron Mann’s feature documentary Go Further, released by Mongrel Media, has not performed up to the level of the Toronto distributor’s breakaway doc hit The Corporation, grossing $19,820 since its April 30 release.

Robert Lepage’s Genie-winning Quebec feature The Far Side of the Moon opened in English Canada May 7 at one Toronto theater. Released by Odeon, the film’s take stood at $2,871 as of May 17.

In Quebec, director Richard Ciupka’s l’Incomprable mademoiselle C. was released by Christal Films April 23. It grossed almost $600,000 as of May 13 and was screening at 59 theaters.
