* Raynald Briere has stepped down as president and CEO of TVA Group, citing health problems, and will be temporarily replaced by Serge Gouin, head of parent outfit Quebecor Media, until a replacement is named.

* Alan Mayne is now CFO for CHUM Limited, moving up from co-head of mergers and acquisitions at TD Securities, where he advised on CHUM’s pending acquisition of Craig Media. The Queen’s University commerce grad worked in England with the UBS Investment Bank before joining TD, and replaces Taylor Baiden, who after a 32-year career with CHUM steps down as VP finance on July 15.

* Phil King is the new president of TSN, moving up from programming to a job left vacant since Keith Pelley’s departure in late 2003. King will oversee the sports speciality and its digital channels ESPN Classic Canada and NHL Network.

* Mainframe Entertainment CEO Rick Mischel is now also CEO of IDT Entertainment Sales, a newly formed subsidiary of IDT, the U.S.-based telco that bought Mainframe late last year. The new company will distribute content from all IDT companies, steered by Mischel in Vancouver.

* Having dropped the ‘acting’ prefix, Silva Basmajian (The Take, The Call) is now the permanent executive producer for the National Film Board’s Ontario Centre.

* The Canadian Cable Television Association has made Michael Hennessy its president and CEO. Hennessey has been acting head of the group since last year, and was previously its SVP of regulatory and external affairs.
