The new studio, called Antenna Pictures, will be led by newly appointed creative director Jago Lee, who is tasked with building a production slate focused on premium factual content. Lee is the former head of documentaries at U.K. prodco Tiger Aspect, as well as the founder of factual entertainment producer Nerd TV, which was acquired by Red Arrow Entertainment Group in 2012.

“With Jago’s talent, knowledge and leadership in the factual space, we are ready to expand our production footprint to the U.K. under his creative direction,” said Raja Khanna, CEO, television and digital, Blue Ant Media in a statement.

Antenna Pictures will work closely with Blue Ant’s Canadian channels and producers, as well as the media company’s international distribution division, added Khanna. The studio has also begun developing a slate of factual content, which will initially be produced to serve broadcast and streaming platforms in the U.K. and U.S.

Lee is set to join Blue Ant at MIPCOM, where the company is shopping its largest ever content slate. Heading into the TV market, Blue Ant has announced a number of deals, including the pick up of 200 hours of content from Anaid Productions and its acquisition of a number of Canadian-produced series from Muse Entertainment, LaRue Entertainment and CMJ Productions II.
