The premiere date for the new Toronto-shot Star Trek: Discovery series has been pushed back across all platforms, CBS announced Wednesday.
The U.S. net has moved the TV series from a January 2017 premiere to May of that year, citing the need to give the show’s production teams additional time to deliver a high-quality series.
Bell Media acquired Canadian TV and SVOD rights for the series in July. The series will premiere on Bell’s CTV the same night as it premieres on CBS. Following the premiere, all episodes will air on Space in English and Z in French, followed by an exclusive run on CraveTV.
In the U.S., the series’ first episode will bow on CBS Television Network, with the remainder of the season moving to CBS’ SVOD service CBS All Access.
Production on the series is scheduled to begin this month at Toronto’s Pinewood Studios, according to IASTE 873’s current production list. Star Trek:Discovery is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Secret Hideout, Living Dead Guy Productions, and Roddenberry Entertainment. Executive producers on the project are Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Fuller, Heather Kadin, Gretchen Berg & Aaron Harberts, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth.
