New Line shooting Butterfly sequel

Vancouver – Production on the thriller The Butterfly Effect 2 began in Vancouver on Jan. 9, a follow-up to the 2004 Ashton Kutcher flick about a young man who discovers he can manipulate the present by changing the past. The New Line Cinema feature from L.A.-based prodcos FilmEngine and Benderspink, producers of the first Butterfly Effect, is directed by John Leonetti (Mortal Kombat: Annihilation), and is produced by A.J. Dix, Chris Bender, J.C. Spink and Anthony Rhulen, all of whom served on the first Butterfly Effect movie. Michael Weiss (I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer) penned the script.

The film stars Eric Lively (The L Word), Erica Durance (Smallville) and Dustin Milligan (Final Destination 3). It shoots until Feb. 7, and is earmarked for a straight-to-video release in 2007. Dustin Dinoff
